Not to be underestimated is the power of flashcards to learn those verbs! I find tarjetas a forever useful tool & a blatant reminder how important the 'motor of language' (verbs) are, in whatever tense(s) you are focusing on. I revisit my tarjetas often; with students or without...the same tarjetas I made 10+ years ago.
In good news, there are only a handful of commonly used, need-to-know IRREGULAR verbs. I write pistas, or useful hints of spelling/stem changes on the IRREGULARS to assist in any doubt when practicing.
What a strange but important skill to rattle off Spanish verb conjugations...good for your brain & great for solidifying your Spanish.
